The organisers Craig, Jon and Gary established rabbit run in 2003 with their sights set on the first event in May 2004. The event was immensely successful and it was demanded by the participants for this to become an annual event. 2005, 2006 and 2007 saw a gradual increase (numbers always restricted) in participants. 30 cars took place in the 2007 event (with tickets selling out four months before the event ran). 2008 was again sold out and saw the introduction of the team event, where all the cars were split into 3 teams. This proved so successful that the format was repeated in 2009 and will also be the case for 2010. Rabbit run is not just another copy cat event and really does offer something different. Daily mileages are not too long, as there is no point in staying in five star accommodation in interesting destinations if there is not ample time to enjoy it. There are no evening driving stints (unless you get totally lost), the evenings are used for socialising in first-class restaurants and bars. WHY CHOOSE RABBIT RUN? There are many other events out there and some of them offer a really great experience. Rabbit Run is different to most of them as it is not commercially driven. The event is financially supported by one of the organisers, so it does not have to take a minimum number of cars to make money to carry the organisers to the next event. This approach shows throughout the event and one or two of the entrants that have been on other events passed comments that, “some of the other events felt as though they were all about the money and publicity, where as Rabbit run is all about the quality of the event and just having a great time”. The other difference is that Rabbit-Run is truly a tour and you don't have to act or drive like a lunatic to be part of the event. It is paramount that everybody returns home safely and also most of the entrants really like their cars so want them back in one piece, with at worst a few stone chips. WHAT IS RABBIT RUN'S GOAL? Rabbit Run's goal is to keep organising great annual trips and further exploring Europe. With a high percentage of entrants re-booking year after year the route and destinations change to retain interest. If you fancy seeing some great parts of Europe, staying in the very best hotels, dining in superb restaurants and all in the company of like minded people, then this is the annual event for you. |
